Registered Nurse (RN) - First Assist

Full-time, Day Shift position located at Corona Regional Medical Center in Corona, CA

The tradition of caring that culminated in the establishment of Corona Regional Medical Center® began in 1965, with the founding of Corona Community Hospital. Since that time the hospital has changed to meet the needs of the rapidly growing community. Corona Community Hospital merged with Circle City Medical Center in 1992 and the resulting entity became Corona Regional Medical Center. The merged hospitals are now a 238-bed community hospital network comprised of a 160-bed acute care hospital and a 78-bed rehabilitation campus. It is certified by The Joint Commission, employs more than 1,250 trained healthcare workers and has a medical staff of approximately 347 physicians representing more than 40 specialties.

Under the direct supervision of the surgeon, provides the surgical team with assistance within the Operating Room and other similar settings. Through this skill development, attains proficiency in assisting the surgeon with specific intraoperative procedures that are beyond the scope of practice for registered nurses without RNFA education and training. Applies knowledge, skill, and judgment necessary to assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation that yields optimal results for the patient. Functions within the state laws regarding surgical assisting and state nursing practice act. The RNFA Intern does not concurrently function as the Scrub Nurse.

RNFA Job Requirements:

• Must be a registered nurse with bachelor’s degree, currently licensed to practice in the State of California.
• Current OR certification [CNOR] from the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) certification (existing RNFA will have one year to obtain CNOR. CNOR is a pre-requisite to CRNFA or RNAS-C certification).
• Must maintain currency with CNOR and attain CRNFA or RNAS-C within 2 years for ongoing employment.
• Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
• NRP if working in obstetrical areas
